What is Tap to Give?
Tap to Give lets you collect in-person, contactless donations directly in the Qomon App - no extra card reader or terminal needed. Donors can tap a contactless debit/credit card, Apple Pay, or another digital wallet to complete a donation on the spot.
You can access Tap to Give from your HQ tab, or directly within your canvassing action.
📲What you need
To use Tap to Give, make sure you have:
A compatible smartphone: A recent smartphone with NFC (tap-to-pay) enabled.
Up-to-date operating system: Tap to Give works best on the latest iOS/Android version.
The Qomon app installed and signed in.
Tap to Give enabled for your organization. If you don’t see the feature, it may not be enabled. Reach out to a member of your organization or Qomon support.
A supported region & payment provider. Tap-to-Give availability depends on country/region and the payment service provider your org uses.
✌️How Tap to Give works (2 ways)
1) From the HQ tab
Go to your HQ tab and select Collect a donation.
2) From a canvassing action
In your canvassing action, select your contact. On the presence screen (where you mark Accept / Not here), tap Other > Collect a donation.
Complete the donation
Once you’ve selected Collect a donation, the remaining steps are the same:
Choose the donation amount (or product).
Confirm the donor’s information (it may already be pre-filled) and tap Confirm.
Check everything over and select Collect.
Present the top of your smartphone to the donor.
The donor taps their contactless card or device over the contactless symbol on your screen to complete the donation.
Wait until the checkmark with “OK” appears (this can take a few moments).
You’ll see a confirmation in the app once the donation is approved ✅.
💳Payment types you can accept
With Tap to Give, you can accept most in-person contactless payments, including:
Contactless debit and credit cards
Apple Pay
Other digital wallets (including Android wallets)
Note: Supported card brands or wallet types can vary by payment provider and region.
🔒Security and privacy
Tap to Give uses your phone’s built-in security features to protect donors and canvassers:
Mobile devices are designed with privacy and security built in.
Sensitive card details aren’t stored in the Qomon app.
The system helps prevent screen recordings and screenshots during a transaction (device-dependent).
Qomon receives only the payment information needed to record and reconcile the donation - not full card details.
👌Tips for smooth donations
Ask donors to hold their card/device steady near the top of your smartphone.
If a tap doesn’t register, try:
Moving the card/device closer
Holding for 1–2 seconds longer
Removing thick phone cases or metal card holders
If your phone is low on battery or in power-saving mode, charge it when possible before long shifts.
🎯Troubleshooting
I don’t see Tap to Give in the app.
Confirm your org has enabled Tap to Give.
Ensure you’re on a compatible smartphone.
Update your device and the Qomon app.
Donor’s card/device won’t tap.
Confirm the donor is using a contactless-enabled card or wallet.
Some cards may have tap limits or be unsupported by your org’s provider.
Donation shows as pending or failed.
Check cellular/data connection.
Retry the donation in the app if appropriate.
If problems persist, contact your org admin or Qomon Support with the donation time and donor name.
Use another payment method.
If Tap to Give isn’t working, you can still collect the donation in another way:
Scan the QR code to Give: This opens the donation link directly in the donor’s browser.
Send the link by SMS: Text the donation link to the contact from Qomon.
Share the link: Tap Share the link to copy it, then paste and send it however you prefer.
