What is Scenarios?
Scenarios is an advanced calculator built into Qomon that lets you create your own analysis scenarios directly within the platform — with results displayed directly on the map.
It allows you to combine, compare, and act on different data sets to produce useful indicators for your decision-making. It functions as a personalized mini analytics engine within Qomon. You quickly get actionable results in the form of numbers and maps.
You can add, subtract, or compare different variables across multiple geographic scales, down to the precise level of a polling station or targeted territory.
Scenarios thus lets you build your own analysis models, tailored to your context.
💡 To access Scenarios, you must have an active subscription to the Data Add-on.
Why use Scenarios?
Scenarios allows you to:
Create your own indicators by adding or subtracting multiple data points.
Test hypotheses or projections.
For example, you can:
Compare results across different elections: How many votes did I lose/gain since the last election? You can even add multiple lists together if you want to group them. Results are then displayed directly on the map.
Test different run-off configurations by combining lists.
Simulate an outcome by adjusting the abstention rate and seeing the effects immediately.
This tool simplifies data analysis and makes it possible to quickly turn raw information into actionable insights.
Where to find Scenarios on the platform?
You can access Scenarios directly from the "Map" tab.
To the right of the "Target territories" button, you'll find the option to launch the Scenarios calculator.
Creating a scenario
A scenario is made up of one or more operations. Each operation combines different elements to produce a result, which you can then reuse in further calculations.
You can use:
Data available in the data explorer (electoral, demographic, socio-economic, etc.)
Numerical values (useful if you want to add votes or adjust abstention effects)
Results from previous operations
This allows you to build calculations ranging from simple to advanced, depending on your needs.
Creating an operation
When creating an operation, you must choose an operator — that is, define what you want to do with your data:
Add or subtract data
Enter a number
Reuse the result of a previous operation
For example, to work on abstention, you can use the "Enter a number" option.
You can then add as many operations as needed to build your scenario calculation. Multiple operations can be chained together within a single scenario.
The results obtained at each step can be reused in subsequent steps to build more complex analyses.
💡 Tip: Only the last calculation will be applied as the final result.
Saving and managing your scenarios
Every scenario you create is automatically saved. Scenarios are personal — they are saved at the user level, not at the workspace level.
You can find your scenarios in your history and rename, edit, or delete them as needed.
