Managing Consents

When importing contacts into Qomon, you may already have consent information from other lists or sources. Managing these consents properly ensures compliance and effective communication with your audience.

Before importing consents, make sure you understand how consents are configured in your Qomon space. Your available consent options depend on what has been set up in Settings > Privacy & Security.

📋 How to import consents

You can include consent details as part of your contact import by adding relevant columns in your file.

Step 1: Choose the correct consent purpose

During the import, you will need to include the following information in your file:

  • Select the consent purpose (e.g. event communication)

  • Add the channels of consent (e.g. SMS, mobile, email)

  • Indicate whether the contact has accepted that consent

Step 2: Fill in the “Accepts” field correctly

In your file, indicate whether a contact has given consent:

  • If the contact has consented
    → Write "Yes" or "True"

  • If the contact has NOT consented
→ Leave the cell blank, or write "No" / "False"

Step 3: Import your file

When importing:

  1. Select "Consents" when asked “What type of data do you want to import?”

  2. Match your file columns to the appropriate consent fields in Qomon

  3. Before confirming the import, double-check the preview screen to ensure consents are matched correctly. ✅

📵 How to import unsubscribes

Unsubscribes should be handled separately from consent.

Step 1: Add a “Refuse” column

To explicitly mark a contact as unsubscribed in your file:

  • If the contact has refused / unsubscribed
→ Write "Yes" or "True" in the Refuse column

  • If the contact has NOT refused
→ Leave the cell blank, or write "No" / "False"

Important:
If a contact has neither consented nor refused, leave both fields blank (or set to "No"/"False").

Step 2: Import unsubscribes

Include relevant columns such as:

  • Contact opted out of SMS

  • Contact unsubscribed from email communication

  • Contact unsubscribed from mobile communication (calls)

Then:

  1. Select "Consents" during import

  2. Match your columns to the correct Refuse / Unsubscribe fields

  3. Confirm everything in the preview screen before importing

✅ Key reminders

  • Your consent options depend on Settings > Privacy & Security

  • Always select the correct consent purpose

  • Use:

    • Accepts = Yes/True → consent given

    • Refuse = Yes/True → explicitly unsubscribed

  • Leave fields blank (or No/False) if no action was taken

🔏 Best practices

  • Maintain records of how and when consents were obtained.

  • Regularly update consents to reflect any changes in permissions.

  • Respect user preferences by ensuring only opted-in contacts receive outreach.
