💻 Modifying contacts on Qomon
You can modify existing contact fields in your database through an import. There are two ways to do this:
Mass Modification through the Web App: This option allows you to modify a limited set of fields directly from your contact database.
Modification through an Import: This option offers more flexibility, allowing you to modify a wider range of fields and add more individualized inputs. This guide will walk you through the import process.
1. Export the Contacts You Want to Modify
Start by exporting a list of the contacts whose information you want to change. You can export a filtered list of contacts if necessary.
Go to your contact database.
Select all boxes.
Choose Select all pages.
Click Export.
2. Choose the Fields to Export
Make sure to include the Qomon contact ID in your export. This ID is crucial for updating contacts rather than creating new ones during the import process.
Select the fields you want to export.
Ensure the Qomon contact ID is included!
Click Export.
3. Download Your Export
Once the export is ready, head to your Imports/Exports tab and download the file to your device.
4. Modify the Exported File
Open the exported file and begin modifying or adding the necessary fields (check out this article for import templates and more info). You can also modify existing fields directly in your file.
Add or modify the necessary information.
For example, add tags or update emails.
5. Save Your Changes
Once all modifications are made, save the updated file and get ready to import it back into Qomon. Be sure that you've made no changes to the Qomon contact ID!
6. Import the File into Qomon
When you're ready to import the file back into Qomon, head to your Imports/Exports tab:
You will need to match the columns of your file to the columns in Qomon. Read here for detailed instructions.
Be sure to choose Qomon contact ID to match the contact ID column in your file. This will ensure that updates are made to the existing contacts.
7. Match Columns During Import
Next, you'll match the modified columns in your file to the corresponding fields in Qomon. You do not need to import columns with no modifications, and you can even delete these columns from your file to speed up the import process.
For example, if you're only updating a tag, you can choose to import just the Qomon contact ID and Tag fields, leaving out other fields such as first name, last name, and gender.
8. Launch the Import
Once you've matched the fields, go ahead and launch the import. You can track its progress in the Imports/Exports tab. Your contacts will be updated shortly. 🎉
