📲 Consent options

At Qomon, we help you remain compliant with Privacy Laws and GDPR regulations in your region when collecting and using contact phone numbers. In this guide, we’ll explain the different options available and how they function.

☝️Single Opt-in

A single opt-in occurs when an individual agrees to the storage and processing of their data by simply providing their contact details.

Examples of Single Opt-in:

  • Canvassing actions:
A canvasser speaks to someone who agrees to share their phone number to receive information from your organization.

  • Online forms or petitions:
Individuals provide their contact information and check a consent box.

✌️Double Opt-in

A double opt-in involves a two-step confirmation process, where individuals confirm their subscription by responding to a verification message after initially providing consent.

  1. Initial Opt-in:
The individual provides their phone number during an action or via an online form and consents by checking a number consent box. (Refer to the Single Opt-in example above.)

  2. Confirmation Message:
After submitting their information, the individual receives a text message asking them to confirm their interest in receiving SMS communications from your organization.

Example of Double Opt-in SMS:

Once confirmed, their phone number consent is updated in the Qomon database:

  • Consent status updated on the web platform:
The system reflects their active confirmation for SMS communications.

This method ensures higher consent levels and minimizes unwanted communications since recipients must actively confirm their subscription.

✋ Opt-out

An opt-out option allows recipients to unsubscribe from SMS communications by replying with a specific keyword (e.g., STOP) or following an opt-out link.

Opt-out Features in Qomon:

  • Default opt-out message in all SMS communications:
Every text message sent via Qomon includes an opt-out option.
Example: A default opt-out link is included in the SMS text for easy unsubscription.

  • Automatic subscription confirmation with opt-out link:
Qomon can automatically send a confirmation message containing an opt-out link immediately after a contact submits their phone number.
Example: SMS messages confirming the subscription also include an opt-out link.
