What is the Conditional Function?
The conditional function allows you to display a question only when a specific answer/condition is met. It works in both surveys and tasks, making your workflows more efficient and your data more relevant.
This means your survey or task will automatically adapt to each situation — showing only the questions that matter and skipping the ones that don’t. Perfect for faster canvassing, cleaner data entry, and more accurate follow-ups.
⚙️ How to activate the conditional function
You can set up conditional logic directly while editing a survey or a task:
Open your survey or task channel
Click the chain icon 🔗 next to the question or answer you want to make conditional
Choose which answer will trigger the question or answer to appear:
⚠️ Heads up: If a question doesn’t appear as expected, try submitting the survey and refreshing the page. The system will have registered the answers and validated the conditional logic.
🎨 Color coding made simple
Qomon uses color coding to help you quickly understand conditional links:
Each condition is assigned a color.
Any question activated by that condition displays the same color.
For example, a green answer triggers green questions. This makes your survey or task structure easy to understand at a glance:
👌🏼 Best practices
Use your first questions to divide your surveys if needed.
Use the first few questions as a guide for your volunteers.
Example: Multiple Surveys
Q1 I have met this citizen: A1. On the street. A2. On the phone. A3. Door to door etc..
Use “Other” sparingly. Only display the "Other" question if the "Other" option is selected by the respondent.
Make your tasks more specific without overcomplicating the conversation.
Example: "Interested in being contacted again" ➡️ "Contacted again for" ➡️ "Participate in events", "Receive the program" etc ...
🚀 Simple & intuitive!
