How to set-up door-to-door canvassing with Qomon?

Best practices and tips to launch and monitor your canvassing actions.

💻 How to create a canvassing action with Qomon

⚠️ There are two methods through which you can set-up canvassing actions:

  1. Using the addresses in your contact database.

  2. Based on geographical area. This method is most commonly used when you have not imported a file into your contact database. You will be given a street list and you can add contacts directly from the Qomon app.

👊 From the "Actions" tab

Click on the "Actions" tab in the menu on the left-hand side of your screen > Then select "Create action" at the top right.

  1. Simply select the type of action you'd like, in this case, "Canvassing."

  2. Choose the zone in which you want the canvassing to take place. Select one or more streets, or even, a city:

  3. You can also draw and select an area where you want to conduct your canvassing directly on the map. It could be a polling station, a district or neighborhood, or even a geographic area (North, South, etc...).

⚠️ Decide which method you would like to use (description below):

  1. "The selected area": Canvass the entire area that you chose. This includes streets where you have both contacts already in your database and areas where you don't. You'll be able to add new contacts directly on the app and update any existing contacts.

  2. "My selected contacts": Your members will be given specific addresses from your contact database that reside in the area you selected. They'll be able to update any existing contacts directly on the Qomon app.

  3. "The streets where I don't have contacts": Specifically target people in the selected area that are not already in your contact database. Your members will be able to create new contacts directly on the Qomon app.

🌎 From the "Maps" tab

Click on the "Maps" tab in the menu on the left-hand side of your screen.

  1. Select an area that you'd like to initiate a canvassing action. (You can choose to select the contacts in the area or simply the list of streets).

  2. Click on "Actions" > “Create Action” > and then select “Canvassing.”

📋 From the "Contact database" tab

On the left-hand side of the screen, you'll find the "Contacts" tab.

  1. You can filter your contact base according to various criteria (such as territory and age). You can add any filter you like to refine your door-to-door campaign.

  2. Once you've selected a part of your database, click on "Action" and "Create an action" to enter the action creation tunnel!

ℹ️ Add more information

Once you have selected how to add your contacts to your action, you can:

  1. Pick a name and a photo for your event, and don’t forget to add a description! Give your volunteers the scoop on what the event’s all about and why it matters - it’ll help get them excited and ready to canvass.

  2. Set a meeting spot or starting point so everyone knows where to gather. A clear location keeps things organized and makes sure everyone is on the same page!

  3. In your Action Settings, lock in the start and end dates, choose an action leader, and add in any extra info like talking points, helpful links, or your Qomon survey.

  4. Last but not least, assign your users and teams to the canvassing action. This way, everyone knows their role, and you’ll be all set for a smooth, efficient event!

  5. And you're finished! Once you hit 'Create your action', the assigned users will receive a push notification along with an email, and be able to access the action from their mobile app.

Tips and Best Practices:

  • Depending on certain responses to the survey, status, or opportunities, you can set up an automatic email to be sent directly after the interaction. Be sure to fill in the email address correctly! To know more on auto emails.

  • Prepare your action thoroughly in order to have all the elements of communication and arrangements you need before you get started.
