How to import contact files into Qomon

💡 Important: Only administrators can import CSV files or XLS.

You can import your contact files directly to your Qomon web platform.

You can do this from your contact database or from your import/export tab:

  • Click Contacts > Import

  • Click Import/Export > Import a file

Step 1: Select the file you want to import

Before you start importing, make sure that your file is ready to be imported. If you need help, read this article or check out our import template.

Step 2: Configure your file settings

Once our system has received your file, you'll need to indicate:

What type of file/separator: a comma? a semicolon? .xls, .csv?

  • Use the preview on the upload screen below, it allows you to see changes and choose the right type of separator.

  • If you select the wrong type of separator, you will see your contacts displayed in "raw data" whereas if the type of separator is the correct one, your contacts will be displayed in columns.

Whether the file contains a header or not:

  • The preview will show whether your file contains a header or not (it's often line n°1).

  • When you indicate that your file contains a header, it will not be imported as a contact, but it will be used to help you during the rest of the import process.

  • It will appear in bold in the preview. 😉

Step 3: Match your file columns with Qomon contact properties.

This step is very important so take your time.

You need to select Qomon contact properties for each column of your file.

You can also choose "do not import" to leave columns out of your import to Qomon.

💡 Use the automatic matching to link every file name with a contact card name in Qomon.

You can also import information into the custom fields you have created. Learn more.

You can import information in the following field types: Short Answer, Single Response, Numeric, Date and Checkbox.

Step 4: Preview contacts before importing

This step shows you an overview of your contact import before initiating the import.

Check that everything is OK and that the correct contact properties were selected. If you think you've made a mistake, simply click Back in the top left corner of your screen to make changes.

Step 5: Give your import a name

Lastly, give your import a name. This will help you to find your way through your multiple imports.

👍 And you're all done!

You've launched your import. You'll be sent an email notification as soon as it's ready on your space. You'll be able to see:

  • the number of imported contacts

  • the number of potential duplicates to be processed. To process your potential duplicates, see here.

  • the number of contacts that could not be imported (Errors)
